8M agro-forestry-fishery exports to the US hit $8.58 bln

Vietnam exported $8.58 billion worth of agro-forestry and fishery products to the US in the first eight months of 2024, a year-on-year increase of 23.5%, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD).

The figure accounts for 21.4% of Vietnam’s total export revenue to the US in the eight-month period.

Key export products include wood, seafood and cashew nuts.

In Jan-August, Vietnam gained a trade surplus of $68.1 billion to the US, up 28.6% year-on-year, figures from the MARD show.

In order to boost exports to the US, businesses need to pay more attention to developing material zones with farming area codes and packaging facility codes as well as promote trade promotion activities, according to Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Phung Duc Tien.

The US currently remains the biggest export market of Vietnam.
